LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure)

A LEEP procedure is done to treat abnormal cervical cells. This procedure is recommended with certain types of cervical abnormalities. The goal with this procedure is to remove the abnormal cells from the cervix. It can be done in our office with a small amount of local anesthetic. Using a thin wire loop and electric current, a thin layer of surface cells are cut away removing the abnormal cells.
